What scene do you think has had the biggest effect on Scrooge so far? Explain which spirit showed him it and what lesson you think it is that he learned. This is worth 2 homeworks.

After reading about Scrooge's past, do you feel his attitude about life, Christmas, and money is justified? Explain in 10-12 sentences. Responses are encouraged, not required. Worth two homeworks (10 points).

Who is your favorite literature character? Meaning: from any book, story, poem, etc. From in or out of something read in school. It could even be from a children's book that you used to love or from something you have read recently. Describe the character: physical and personality (characterize him/her/it) so that we get a clear idea of who he/she/it is. And of course, explain WHY this is your fav. character - do you relate to the character? Admire the character? etc...EXPLAIN.

I loved the suggestions from everyone yesterday in class for this week's blog. I think the best thing to do this week, since we are all picking out a new IR book, is recommendations. Add a recommendation - for or against - any fiction book that someone could read for this project. Include title, author, characters conflict, etc - but do NOT give anything away! Make them interested in reading the book by leaving them hanging. This will count as 2 homework assignments, and you do NOT have to reply to receive credit. Happy writing : )

Before we began Bearstone, we discussed what it meant to grow up, and shared a personal experience about a time we felt grown up. What did you learn from Cloyd's personal growth?

Explain your feelings towards Cloyd. Do you feel sorry for him? Can you identify with him? Why/Why not...explain!

To test out our ELA blog, I would like you to write 5-10 sentences about your favorite song. Tell us the title, artist, why it is your favorite song, and how long it has been your favorite song. This is just for practice so you can become familiar with how to use the blog. However, you should still show effort and be sure to pay attention to conventions!

Since we have such a short week...I wanted to try something a little different. This is pretty disconnected from what we're doing in class...but let's see how it goes...
Take a look at the photo below. I took it on a recent trip to the Museum of Modern Art. Doesn't it look real enough to touch? What kinds of thoughts flow through your mind while looking at it? Write a short paragraph based on this picture. It can be simply how you imagine feeling if you were standing next to it or sitting in it? Does it remind you of anything? Just let the photo guide you and write freely. Don't OVER think this, just use it as some inspiration. You may even start out AT the tree...and end up in some totally made up world!
